Our Col looks a special trotting filly in the making judging by her scintillating New Zealand record performance in the NZ Sires’ Stakes 3YO Trotters Final at Cambridge on Friday night.

After settling towards the back of the field off the gate, the Tony Herlihy trained daughter of Father Patrick was sent forward with a mile to go.

With John Dunn unwilling to relinquish the lead on Petite Amour, Our Col simply slotted into the trail and waited for the passing lane to present itself. The talented filly then duly reeled in and strode past the leader to win by two and a quarter lengths.

Her time of 2:42.3 for the 2,200m mobile start lowered Royal Aspirations’ 2013 all-comers 3YO record by 0.7 of a second and was almost 2 seconds quicker than Tailored Elegance’s fillies record.

Undefeated in three race-day starts now, Our Col has banked $41,500 in stakes earnings to date.

Bred by Breckon Farms Ltd, Our Col is out of the race-winning Muscle Hill mare Cheeky Babe, a half-sister to last season’s Rowe Cup winner Bet N Win.
